Fact checking

Reliable information matters. Our editorial standard is to check important factual claims before publication and to give readers a clear route to supporting information.

Choosing sources

For health-related topics, we prioritise public health bodies, recognised medical institutions and relevant peer-reviewed research. Sources should be current enough for the claim being made and interpreted in context.

Recognising limits

A single study is not a guarantee. Writers should distinguish evidence, personal experience and opinion, and explain material uncertainty rather than presenting speculation as established fact.

Help us improve

If something appears inaccurate, email info@hazcom.co.za with the article URL, the claim and a supporting reference.
